Shaping Tomorrow's Initiatives

Shaping Tomorrow has been, and continues to be, involved in a number of diverse initiatives and activities including projects, workshops, events, etc. in sync with its Mission. Shaping Tomorrow has been working with different Ministries in Government of India on diverse issues, interacting at the policy and systems' level. It is currently in dialogue with the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances regarding use of Blockchain technology in governance systems. It is also working on strategies for briefing and assisting Governments in ushering in "Future-Ready Governance".



India's 2nd International Spring Event on Competition Regulation to be held on 10-11 February, 2017



Project with DCA, GoI for Studying Consumer Protection Issues was initiated on 16 November, 2016

Projects

At the project level, one of its proposals on competition & consumer laws is under consideration of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs. Shaping Tomorrow and IIM,Kashipur are also in touch with the Government of Uttarakhand for jointly taking up governance reforms and sustainability projects.

Apart from these, Shaping Tomorrow is already involved in an ongoing research project on Consumer Protection Issues. It has also completed the Workshop project of ONGC - HR about "Managing People".

Managing People in Tomorrow's World - ONGC HR Workshop
The Workshop has been conceived not as a training or capacity building exercise, but as an opportunity for senior ONGC officials to be exposed to latest global thinking on future of work and HR followed by interaction, to facilitate re-thinking and re-imagining of Human Resource Management, with HR transitioning from a support function to a strategic change driver through 'Managing People'.

Shaping Tomorrow is doing pioneering work in the emerging field of competition law, creating new approaches and institutional structures in the process. It is working for linking competition law to business schools / management, market-driven governmental delivery-systems reforms and sustainability issues etc.

Completed Event:

International Workshop on Consumer Protection was organized jointly by Indian Institute of Management, Kashipur & Shaping Tomorrow under the aegis of Department of Consumer Affair, Government of India on 22nd and 23rd August, 2017.The participants in the workshop were distinguished delegates from the Department of Consumer Affairs (DoCA) and its associated offices (Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), National Test House (NTH), and Legal Metrology) as well as from other renowned institutions like Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Competition Commission of India (CCI), Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), National Consumer Helpline (NCH), IIM Kashipur, etc.

The workshop brought together Indian delegates and officials from various prestigious institutions as well as International Experts from United States of America & Australia to a common platform for exchanging their viewpoints on the latest consumer issues as well as giving an overview of the best international practices

India's 1st international Spring Event on Competition Regulation was organized by Shaping Tomorrow on 5-6 February, 2016. It was organized in partnership with IIM, Kashipur and the leading Indian law firm AZB & Partners, supported by Anupam Sanghi Regulatory Practices and LexisNexis. The event was widely acclaimed with participation of some of the top 5 international experts on competition law, apart from representatives of OECD and competition agencies of other jurisdictions.


Third International Conference on Competition Regulation & Competitiveness
Shaping Tomorrow organized an International Conference on Competition Regulation & Competitiveness on 5th February,2016 in partnership with IIM, Kashipur and the leading Indian law firm AZB & Partners. The Conference brought together various stakeholders and discussed the legal, economic, management and institutional dimensions of competition regulation in India.

Shaping Tomorrow organised an International Round Table on 6th february, 2016, to discuss various dimensions of competition law that seeks to maintain market competition by regulating anti-competitive conduct through public and private enforcement. The discussion was convened to realize the potential of competition regulation to enhance innovation, consumer welfare and economic growth

Presentations by Demos Helsinki & Shaping Tomorrow Consultants
Demos Helsinki as a knowledge partner of Shaping Tomorrow Consultants presented a sneak in to the concept of co- creational foresight, with the main aim as to help Societies, Cities & Organizations to thrive in future. The focus was on to work together with a broad range of stakeholders and change-makers to understand together not only what the futures could be, but also what they should be.
The presentations were bifurcated into four parts envisioning the mandates of different departments vis a viz Bureau of Indian Standards, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Directorate general of Foreign Trade.

UNCTAD conference on Consumer Protection
The first International Conference on Consumer Protection for East, South and South-East Asian Countries with the theme of "Empowering Consumers in New Markets" was organized by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India in association with United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). This is the first time an international conference on consumer protection is being organized by India for countries of the region which account for a majority of the global consumers and share common challenges and experiences. 24 countries from East, South and South-East Asia are participated in the international conference. The two-day conference concluded on 27th October 2017.

Assam Innovation Lab Summit 2017
A Summit was held on the 22nd and 23rd of November, 2017 titled "Innovation Lab Summit: Taking Forward Innovation and Foresight in Assam" at the Assam Administrative Staff College, Guwahati. It was organized by the Transformation and Development Department (T&DD), Government of Assam, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA), Centre for SDGs (CSDGs) and Centre for Innovation and Futures Studies (CIFS). The summit was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Assam, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal on the 22nd of November, 2017.
